Do you share your computer with others and do not want to share some applications with the other people that share your computer? If you answered “yes” to that question, then there is really just one thing you can do. You need to turn to software and see if there is an application out there that can lend a helping hand.

Luckily enough, there is just such an application out there, an application that can block access to certain applications. The application I am talking about is Akala EXE Lock. As its name so adequately suggests, this application will put executables on lockdown.

The program installs in a very short time and can run on most versions of Windows. It takes up little hard disk space and it's gentle with the system resources.

The interface of Akala EXE Lock is well organized and has a nice graphical form, so even beginners will be able to use it without problems. The user just needs to point out the executable that wants to lock, enter a password and Akala EXE Lock will do the rest. The unlocking process is similar. Optionally, one can customize the encryption settings, like setting the message that will appear after the locked file is accessed or creating a backup of the executable.

The program features two encryption modes, one that compresses the executable and one that doesn't, the first being more secure. Besides that, a password can be set for accessing Akala EXE Lock, for not allowing a user to decrypt a locked executable.

Pros:
It can protect any executable with a password, making it impossible to access without the right password. It is also very easy to use and even beginners can encrypt exe files without problems.

Cons:
It seems too simple and doesn't have many options. Moreover, the trial version cannot encrypt exe files larger than 500 KB.
